Publytics Roles
Let's learn about publytics roles hierarchy and let's understand what are the permissions for each different role.
As you know Publytics allows you to add as many users as you want for every website. For example in a company is useful to distinguish among:
-
The website owner which is the one who pays the subscription and owns the registered site.
-
The admins who are the ones with full access to publytics who have special permission for the website.
-
The users: the ones who have restricted accesses to the platform and can not edit important settings on for the site.
Let's analyze each one of them.
Owner
The owner is usually the one who registered the site to Publytics (Unless he transferred the ownership). The owners is the the one who pays the subscription for the website (Unless it is in trial period) and has full access to every functionality of publytics.
The owner of the website access to:
-
Every section without restrictions (by sections we mean Dashboard, Real-time, Audience etc.).
-
Site options where he can assign roles to other users, specify the allowed hostnames for his site and delete the site from publytics.
-
Billing details where he can see (if they are present) current and old billing details and he can add new billing details.
-
Subscription (if he has an active subscription): in this page the owner can see the details of his subscription, the billing cycle, the next renewal, check if he has exceeded the number of pageviews and more.
-
Custom dimensions where he can add, edit, delete custom dimensions and generate custom reports.
-
Custom views where he can add, edit, delete custom views.
Admin
The admin is a users with particolar powers. In fact even if he is not an owner the admin:
-
Has access to every section without restrictions (by sections we mean Dashboard, Real-time, Audience etc.).
-
Has a restricted access to Site options where he can assign roles to other users, specify the allowed hostnames for his site but he can't delete the website from publytics (is something reserved to owners).
An admin can also change his own role to that of a simple user. By doing this he will not be able to go back on his own, but will need permission from another admin or the owner.
-
Has access to Custom dimensions where he can add, edit, delete custom dimensions and generate custom reports.
-
Has access to Custom views where he can add, edit, delete custom views.
So an admin can not see the Billing details nor have any access to the subscription details (because is something reserved to the owner with an active subscription).
User
A simple user is the one who uses publytics but has no power in editing the site settings and can't add any custom dimension (but can see them).
So a simple user has:
-
Access to some or all sections of the dashboard (by sections we mean Dashboard, Real-time, Audience etc.). In fact a user can receive a restricted access to the websites sections (for example he could see the Real-time section but could not access Acquisition). This is decided by the admins or the owner when they register that user. to have more information about how to add users visit Site options.
-
Access to some or all views of the website a user can receive a restricted access to the websites views (included the standard view).
